We want to give you a preview of the exciting and fun events we have planned:

Friday, May 15th
Registration begins at 1:00pm where you will check in at the Convention Registration Desk and check into your room or maybe you will check into one of those Cabana Suites where you step right out onto the beach! Be sure to bring your bathing suit for a dip in the pool or the surf before the festivities begin. Also be sure to bring your money to spend at the Beta Boutique taking a “chance” on one of those wonderful baskets. While you are getting acquainted with the hotel you can be looking for the answers to the “Beach Party Scavenger Hunt” you will find in the Beach Bag you receive at registration. There will be a prize for the winner of the hunt, don’t worry you have until Sunday to find the answers to the clues. You can also start looking for your Beta Buddy who has the mates to the Flip Flops included in your beach bag so that you can end up with a matching pair. On Sunday if you still haven’t found a matching pair, we will bring you all together so that you can do so. You can also start checking out the other tourists in the hotel. This will help you decide how you may want to dress as a “Wacky Tourist”. Friday evening we will open the Convention and hold our Memorial Ritual. Then we will adjourn to the beautiful patio area overlooking the Atlantic Ocean (weather permitting). With the tikki torches lit setting the tone for a real Beach Party atmosphere, you will enjoy an open seating dinner and party to Jimmy Buffet style entertainment. This will be a casual night so feel free to dress as a “Wachy Tourtist” and enter our contest. Our sisters who feel they would be uncomfortable sitting outside, can opt to have seating “inside” in an air-conditioned room that opens up to the patio area. This seating is limited to 100 guests and we request that those needing this special seating indicate this on the registration form.

On Saturday morning the day starts with Rituals followed by Breakfast and the morning meeting’s announcement of the winners of our “Best” Social, Ways and Means and Service Projects”. We won’t keep you long at the meeting because we have so many wonderful things for you to do. You can relax by the pool, jump the waves in the surf, try surfing (how about a “boogie board”), build a sandcastle, visit our Beta Boutique or take one of the special excursions we will have available for a minimal charge:

*Water Taxi Ride across the Ponce de Leon Inlet to New Smyrna Beach for lunch at Down the Hatch, Inlet Harbor or Grill at the Riverview

*Tour of the Ponce de Leon Lighthouse and the Marine Science Center with lunch at Down the Hatch, Inlet Harbor or Lighthouse Restaurant

*Daytona Experience at the Famous Daytona International Speedway where you can challenge your Beta Sigma Phi sisters to some friendly NASCAR competition! This will be followed by lunch at Angel and Phelps Candy Factory – now how’s that for a lunch? Actually, this is also a very fine restaurant.

Not a beach person, maybe a shopper? You can do your shopping in the many shops at the Ocean Walk Shoppes or along AIA, all within walking distance of the hotel. Lunch will be on your own and you can choose from the many restaurants within the Hilton or along A1A. Saturday night you will need to dress for a night “on the town”. We will start with a delicious dinner of your choice selecting one of 3 entrees! Then the all important announcement of our Women of Year. The party will continue at the Beta Sigma Phi Convention Casino where you will be given chips with which to gamble and take your winnings to the “Beta Shop” to try to win the prize of your choice. Never gambled before? Our friendly dealers will teach you the rules of the game so that when you go to Vegas or on a cruise you won’t be afraid to play a hand or roll the dice. Once the Casino closes the party continues at one of the many bars in the Hilton or you might want to put on your “Biker Babe” duds and visit the infamous Boot Hill Saloon just a short walk from the hotel on Main Street (be sure to bring your “duds” – don’t have any? They will let you in even in non Biker attire!).

Sunday morning is T-shirt Time. Wear your Convention T-shirt and be eligible for a special prize. At breakfast we announce all the Winners: the winner of the Scavenger Hunt and all those raffles sold at the Beta Boutique. The Closing Ritual will bring the Beach Party to an end, but we know you will have had such a wonderful time enjoying our hospitality you will return to our exciting city.
